Magecraft in the News!
aking my cue once again from the wisdom of Sir Clisto Seversword, I, Blackwolf the Dragonmaster, now devote a new portion of my Dark Chambers to ferreting out the latest breaking news from the realms of the Fantasy, RPG/Gaming, and Renaissance Faire Multiverses! I hope you'll enjoy what I've got, so let's begin right away!
Many grammarcies to the High Mage Heldrig Uth Matar of the Shire of Buffalo, and his Squire Talif, who were nice enough to contact me by phone. I plan to learn more about them in the coming weeks, so do stay tuned!
Your Dragonmaster is on the brink of being a very busy bee this summer. Firstly, the goodlies of NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien recorded my encounter with several Star Wars fans who were standing in front of the Ziegfeld Theatre hither in mine native Shire, to observe Attack of the Clones! The Conan crew, led by the cigar-chomping, foul-mouth'd Triumph the Insult Dog, declared your Dragonmaster to be a "Lord of the Rings geek!"
Presently, Thor the Barbarian and I are filming our cameo appearance in John Daniel Gavin's film, No Money Down. As I understand it, I am scheduled to dispense some wizardly wisdom to John's character toward the end of the film. I shall let ye know posthaste! Thor himself is also going to be interviewed in an upcoming Renaissance Magazine; hopefully I shall have that opportunity as well.
It looks as though 'twill indeed be a busy 10th month for your Dragonmaster. Sunday, October 6th will once more see our beloved Fort Tryon Park Mediaeval Festival (our first such Festival post-9/11, and one of several timed not to interfere with that dark milestone's one-year anniversary), before I get to once more strut me wizardly stuff in the 29th Greenwich Village Halloween Parade! Huzzah! Further details will find their way hither to Magecraft in the News as soon as possible!
Barbara "Baj" Businski, best known as the beautiful Queen Katherine at Carver, Mass.' beloved King Richard's Faire, has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Some of my fellow Rennies may already be aware of this; however, this is also a good time to encourage those of you with proper ties to the Realms of Faire to support the cancer charity closest to your local Faire. In your Dragonmaster's case, that charity would be Gilda's Clubs Worldwide, the cancer organization created in memory of Saturday Night Live founding alumnus Gilda Radner; and which was so valiantly supported by those record-shattering Massed Pipes and Drums during this past April's Tunes of Glory Parade in Manhattan! Huzzah! In the meantime, if there be further news regarding Lady Baj's condition, such information will be posted hither!
Tony DiTerlizzi, Knight Champion of the Imagination, hath finished his third children's book, an adaptation of the popular poem about The Spider and the Fly! It won't be out in bookstores until September, but you can sneak a peek on Tony's homepage (and you WILL bow down before Tony's all-knowing pugdog, Goblin, whose word is law!).
Meanwhile, even as Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets continues its year-long journey towards its November 15th release date, there are still some cool adventures for those seeking to head to Hogwarts via Platform 9 3/4; and accordingly, they're all featured in the Hogwarts portion of my links segment! The new Potter movie will again feature the wizardry of Industrial Light & Magic, Rhythm & Hues, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Mill Film London --- and much, much more! The Warner Bros./1492/Heyday Picture will doubtless be packed anew with even more incredibly magical surprises than last time! As for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the second highest-grossing movie EVER, the VHS and DVD --- featuring 10 minutes of never-before-seen footage, a virtual tour of our favorite School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, behind-the-scenes interviews with Chris Columbus and David Heyman, and much much more! --- is now available! And if you're interested, mark your calendars, pay-per-view fans: Hogwarts invades PPV beginning on July 12th! And of course, there's also the little matter of Lucasfilm's Star Wars, Episode II --- Attack of the Clones, which is going on now! (Our younger apprentices may wish to click hither to explore the Skywalkers' Family Album!)
Here be some words for those of ye who have befriended my beloved Mistress, Her Majesty, Margaret, Queen of Scotland and the Isles!
Her Majesty is quite the champion when it comes to creating homepages for the Royals of Scarborough Faire! Huzzah! Her most recent such page introduces ye to the Magnificent Six (in addition to Her Majesty of Scotland, the Six are: King Henry VIII and Queen Anne Boleyn; Sir Edward Seymour, Duke of Somerset; Lady Monica Murray, Viscountess of Roxburghe, Baroness of Strange; and Crown Prince Friedrich Hapnick of Carpania)! The Barbarian also wanted you goodly gentles to be aware of this: simply put, We are looking for some of the most beautiful maidens in the Multiverse to join Thor's motley crew of adventurers! We invite ye to contact Barbarian Enterprises at barbarianhero@hotmail.com for additional information; meanwhile, we remind you to look for Thor and his companions (including your humble Dragonmaster) on the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, where our show airs on alternating Sunday nights at 11:30 pm EST!
