Baron Olen Forkbeard, Barbarian and Minstrel-at-Large!
Greetings, fellow Ironthorners, and welcome to the Village of Sterlingshire --- smallest of the several Towns, Keeps and Provinces which comprise the Empire of Ironthorn. Established in May 2000, Ironthorn is a Nordic Re-enactment Organization whose members seek to share with you their interpretations of life during the period when the Norsemen sailed the seas, specifically, circa 400-1200 C.E. In particular, our target timeframe is between the years 800-1300 A.D.
From Castle Headquarters in the Shire of Manchester, in that area known unto ye Mundaners as the State of Tennessee, our noble Imperial Seneschal, His Lordship Duke Sir Alphonse d'Orleans, Ruler of the Keep of Dragon's Myst, doth rule over a Realm which, from the moment of its founding, hath remain'd ever prosperous. The Imperial Dominion consists of Tennessee and these other U.S. States: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, and South Carolina; and has recently extended into Europe through its first several members from that continent.
As Imperial Historian, I, Baron Olen Forkbeard --- a fierce Barbarian-turned-humble Minstrel --- have been granted the burden of chronicling the History of Ironthorn, and to do so in a manner that would allow me to accomplish such a luxury in a uniquely and completely up-to-the-minute format. To achieve that aim, these Pages --- Ironthorn's Royal Official Newsletter --- shall be posted hither as part of Richard Washington's Blackbeard's Castle Collection of Websites. Among other things, our key objective will be to present you with the latest news, events, information and anecdotes from all across the Empire. In these efforts, I shall be assisted, his schedules and the manner of the Imperial Progress permitting, by Duke Alphonse himself! Huzzah!
But of course, as these Pages --- indeed, all of Ironthorn itself --- are only just beginning, it stands to reason that we cannot bring these aims into fruition without proper input from YOU.
